ABSU October 2015 Strike.
Since the beginning of October, Most of the Abia state university staffs have been complaining that the Abia state government has refused to pay them their salary, for up to 3 months.
The new academic Session was expected to resume fully by October, but the delay in salary payment to both the Academic and Non academic staffs has dwindled the Anticipated Commencement of School activities.
Today, being the 28th of October at exactly 3:45pm, The School Generator was switched off and this brought the school activities to a grand halt.
Most students were sadden by the unexpected lights out....because so many of them were interrupted in their activities. for Example,. Most project students in Biochemistry and industrial Chemistry department,who were Carrying out various laboratory tests were interrupted, Now what will be the fate of their practicals?
Some lectures who were in school immediately went parking.

The School gates were Closed by the security men who were lamenting that they aren't slaves to anyone.The Chief security officer Stipulated that No one is permitted into the school environment, and anyone within the school premises should evacuate immediately and should not return until the staffs are paid.
And this prevented people who were outside the school premises from entering, most of them were saying that they left this or that inside the school. Some lectures were seen meeting the Chief security officer to grant them entry to close their office and eventually leave with their vehicles.
Most students insisted that they must go in but non of the security men listened to them. But eventually some very infullential personnel's were granted entry. The students sat outside the School gate looking unhappy and disappointed, some were seen making series of calls, calling their friends inside the school at the moment to bring out their things for them.
Finally its practically unethical to demand the services of a Qualified individual and then refuse to pay them their salaries at the end of the month. The Nigerian government should bring a stop to this menace. The government of Abia state should pay the staffs of Abia state university so that the Activities of this great Citadel of learning will resume with immediate effect.
UPDATE
On October 29th, at 12:00pm the deputy vice chancellor ordered the security men to let the students into the school premises, but that does'nt justify the fact that the strike has been called off.

The Strike was called off on 9th November 2015, after a Senate meeting which was held during the afternoon hour.
