Many people pay huge sums of money for computer services that they can do themselves and most times has a completely free alternative, people are just simply unaware of these.
I’ve realised that some people do not realise the large amount of powerful and resourceful software that are simply snaps away, so I am going to take a break and highlight most of what I feel are the computer skills and programs everyone should learn or have.
All these are even free.

4. Photo editing/ Graphics designing – Photoshop
Photoshop is a raster graphics editor that can also perform the job of graphics design, its primary use is for photo enhancements but can also be used for other designs with manipulations of its inbuilt shape and text tools.
Its learning curve is a bit steep but will surely pay off.
5. Web design – Mobirise
I just discovered a free tool called mobirise for building mobile and responsive websites that’s quite excellent and definitely worth checking out. www.mobirise.com

6. Blogging – Wordpress, Blogger
Wordpress.com is a free blogging platform that allows users to create beautiful and responsive Blogs and websites. You can try this out by visiting www.wordpress.com

7. Instant messaging – WhatsApp
The most popular smartphone messaging app, WhatsApp is now available for mac and PC. Yes! You can download this at www.whatsapp.com

Chrome has one of the largest libraries of extensions, add-ons and built-in applications that enhance the browser's ability to do what you want it to do.
While Firefox and Internet Explorer boost impressive extensions as well, they cannot even come close to the amount of encouragement Google gives to users to change the way chrome works. It also integrates seamlessly with other Google products like Gmail, YouTube, and Drive etc.
9. Antivirus – SMADAV
Smadav is an antivirus software that protects the computer from corruption in the process of communication with other devices or systems – Smadav has a free version which does most of the job compared to other software.
10. Archiving – 7 Zip
7zip is a free and open-source file archiver, which you can use to compress files into .zip and .rar format.
