Be Cyclic Alert

Written by: Muoka Chibuzor G

“History is a cyclic poem written by Time upon the memories of man.” – Percy Bysshe

“Don't grieve. Anything you lose comes round in another form.” “Each night, when I go to sleep, I die to awake again."

When the good Lord decided to create the universe, He first thought of a mechanism through which He would create, and the created would recreate itself in a continuous cycle. He never wanted a scenario whereby He would have to repeat the divine statement; "let’s create man in our own image…. again!" And after He created all He wanted, He decided to rest because His creations were quite a complexity and a flawless masterpiece that the entire wonders and inquisitiveness of man could not replicate.

During creation, He decided that both the living and the non-living would embrace a cyclic routine, thus He deposited in them the capacity of change, degeneration, and subsequent regeneration. Years and centuries have gone by, but things kept moving in a cycle. You may ask how? But some people have lived all their lives being oblivious of this fact, some dwelled in continuous thoughts, thinking of the mystic cycle.

Man gives birth to its kind and when they die, a sort of reincarnation was instituted to occur. According to Brian Leslie Weiss an American psychiatrist, hypnotherapist, and author, who specializes in so-called past life regression. His research includes purported reincarnation, past life regression, future life progression, and survival of the human soul after death.

To him, reincarnation was all about the existence of the soul before we were born and its continued existence after we die, and the process of being reborn continues over and over as our souls evolve spiritually. Thus after a cycle, things attain a certain level of purity and do not remain the same.

Although the idea of reincarnation is still being opposed by several schools of thought, a deep inquiry into this ancient belief system as championed by both our ancestors and several enthusiastic men, who upheld a supportive view about the possibility of the reincarnation process, might still convince the doubtful Thomas.

When Dalai Lama was asked what surprised him about humanity the most, he replied: “Man. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.” Sometimes man dwells in a cycle of self-unawareness.

Since the earth is highly conservative,  the possibility of a living being dying but not perishing,  in the sense that reincarnation occurs to bring back (recycle) a lost human and such being comes to existence in another body through birth probably hold some salts of truth. “A little while of rest upon the wind, and another woman shall bear me.” – Khalil Gibran. Thus, generations come and go, but the earth remains to recycle the progeny of man and his living and non-living accomplices.

According to the law of conservation of energy, energy can neither be created nor destroyed, and energy can only be transformed from one form to another.  This fact supports the reincarnation phenomenon where death is the precursor of a new life. Also, according to the 2nd law of thermodynamics, for any form of action, including spontaneous actions that tend to occur, there must be an equating increase or constancy in disorderliness but not a decrease.

Therefore as things tend to disperse in disorderliness obeying the 2nd law of thermodynamics, the law of gravity came into effect. As the gravitational forces try and tend to pull everything together, trying to bring back orderliness, and decrease entropy (disorderliness), it violates the second law of thermodynamics.

It was observed that things that try going up into a state of disorderliness are often pulled down and back to orderliness, but mostly not to their exact site of origin (emergence), and that was the bane of the gravitational mechanism.

The gravitational force failed in the task to be able to pull things back to their exact site of origin for perfect recycling. For example, if one sprays perfume in a room, the molecules arise from the nozzle of the perfume container and they rise up, going up against gravity as propelled by air, and people far away can perceive the perfume.

But then the gravitational force tries to make the molecules settle, but eventually, the molecules end up settling on different areas but not settling or going back to the perfume container as a result of the molecular collision and rise in entropy as particles tend to settle. This was one of the limitations of the gravitational force. It would have been wonderful if magnetism and its quantum of attraction could salvage gravitational limitations to bring about perfect cycling whereby things always go back to where they came from. Unfortunately, things kept moving in a cycle of perpetual disorderliness.

Looking at the earth, the moon, the sun, the stars, their movements are all cyclic. They keep revolving in a circle. When it rains the land is filled up with water, when the sun shines the water in the land evaporates to the atmosphere to condense in the cloud from where it rains again,  giving rise to the water cycle.

If water a cyclic phenomenon was indeed the origin of life as Charles Darwin and colleagues, presented to the world to believe as he contributes to the theory of “abiogenesis,” where he stated that the original spark of life may have begun in a "warm little pond,” with all sorts of ammonia and phosphoric salts, light, heat, electricity etc. They gave rise to a protein compound that was chemically formed and ready to undergo still more complex changes.  Thus, the outputs of water should bear and share likely behaviour with it.

In the human biological system a lot of processes run in cycles, beginning from breathing in and out, eating and defecating, waking and sleeping (circadian rhythm), birth and death etc. Indeed man is like a can of water and when the water within is gone, the beauty of life disappears as it awaits another refill.

The ideologies of the cardinal points are just for formality and precision sake. This is because, in a spherical world, the north, south, east and west points are relative and specific to the position of a specific object alone in the earth space. Anyone can awake to say this is my north and that is my east, and that’s his belief. "In the sky, there is no distinction of east and west; people create distinctions out of their own minds and then believe them to be true."- Gautama Buddha

Since man dwells in a cyclic world, the good Lord made him understand that what goes around comes around (the law of Karma). Thus, He invented the golden rule which states, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Bearing this in mind, man began to live a life of conscientiousness trying to live a life devoid of evil and full of good.

But was that the end of evil. No, it wasn't. As it was seen that the balance of the cycle was brought about by positive and negative forces, good and bad people, light and dark moments, strong and weak, the rich and the poor etc. Along the cycle, there was both the great and small. And because the earth was an imperfect circle, humans were imperfect and all fingers were never created to be equal. And when all these fingers lie in a circular path, they would all have a place of accommodation. Thus, if you place your palms to face oppositely on each other, you form a globe.

Have you ever thought about the cyclic nature in human inventions? The movement of car wheels, the ticking hands of the clock, the rechargeable nature of batteries, the rotation of the blades of a fan etc.  Indeed this cycle has no beginning and no end, and on its basic principle was the mechanics of machines invented, without which machines would collapse. Machines would always start and end, restart and end, and keep repeating a cycle.

Things only end as individual belief system confines one to believe, but in reality, nothing ever ends, because, in life, everything runs in a continuous cycle. Be cyclic alert!
